The Best Things to See in Mayapur:
Mayapur is situated in an area somewhere in the middle of the rivers
Hoogly and Jalangi and is one of the main of the nine islands of the Chaitanya
Mahaprabhu's dham Nabadwip. It is located 130 km from kolkata and well
connected by roads and rail networks from there.
Chandrodaya Temple: This is the first
temple to be established by ISKON in Mayapur. This is just amazing, It can not be explained in a blog. This magnificent temple seen from
quite a distance away has the deity of Radha Krishna along with the eight
gopis. A magnificent deity of Lord Narasimha is also established here. There is
also an exhibition section, depicting life and times Shree Chaitanya.
Samadhi of Prabhupada: After Srila
Prabhupada’s death ISKCON decided to construct a temple as a tribute to its
founder. The temple, the third one in the Chandrodaya complex, was opened to
the devotees on February 1995. This samadhi mandir is just takes 2 minutes from
the Chandrodaya temple. It is called that The temple houses a golden statue of Prabhupada in the
centre.
Shree Chaitanyamath: Shree Chaitanyamath is in the place where Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu took birth. It is another big attraction in Mayapur. One can still see the neem tree, under which he is supposed to have been born. The hut displays with the help of clay models his life. Besides the main temple of the math is also a big draw.
Goswami Maharaj Temple of Dashavatar: This temple built
in typical Orissa, style of Temple architecture al styles has the ten avatars
of lord Vishnu painted on the walls of the temple. There are statues of two
roaring lions at the gate along with a tower inside the temple complex.
Chand Kazi’s Samadhi: Chand Kazi was a Muslim magistrate of Navadvipa, opposed to the idea of Harinam sankirtana later by prabhu’s miracle he became the disciple of Shree Chaitanya. |
